Poetry and Art, Maryse Casol

POETRY WEDNESDAY;
LETS KEEP IT TOPICAL,

''SUMMER DAY''

Hot summer day
Carry me along
Oh, hot summer day
Please carry me along
Hot summer day
Carry me along
To its end where I begin

Long summer dream
Sliding round my mind
Those long summer dreams
Are leaving me behind
Hot summer day
Carry me along
To its end where I begin

Circling like a river
Over brightly colored stones
Breaking up my soul
And taking part of me home
Leaving the other half
To tumble all alone
Love, love, where did you go?

Hot summer day
Carry me along
To its end where I begin
Those long summer dreams
Still spinning round my mind
And they end where they begin

And I want to grab that river
And stop the love that's dying
Because I know that somewhere
Deep inside my soul you're still lying
Waiting to awaken
And shake that river's flow
Love, love, where did you go?

They told me that the sun turned green
I said I didn't know
And they told me that the moon turned blue
And I said it didn't show
And they told me that I looked a fool
And I said I'd let that go
But when they told me that our love was dead
I had to turn and go

Oh love, love, love, love
Love, where did you go?

Hot summer day
Carry me along
To its end where I begin
Long summer dreams
Sliding round my mind
And they end where they begin

Circling like a river
Over brightly colored stones
Breaking up my soul
And taking part of me home
Leaving the other half
To tumble all alone
Love, love, where did you go?
.

Shakespear;
Shall I compare thee to a summer day??

1.    Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
2. Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
3. Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
4. And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
5. Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
6. And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
7. And every fair from fair sometime declines,
8. By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:
9. But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
10. Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
11. Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
12. When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,
13. So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
14. So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

What a treat! From the song to the colorful paintings to Shakespeare, I had a great time...thank you!

(I wanted to put on my peace sign tee shirt after hearing the song lol.)

You are a master of the integration of the senses and you have woven my memories in as well.
70's music was so very cool! This is a great post, Loretta, really enjoyed it.

Wonderful post. Beautiful words and colors...is there anyway to keep my summer beautiful but in the mid-70s (as opposed to the 90s) Thanks for sharing

I love vivid colours. As for summer in the city, I always think of 'mad dogs and Englishmen'. It's that hot!

Yes, summer it wonderful and nice to think about, especially at the start of an Aussie winter - which aren't as cold as your side of the world, but cold enough!
One of the loveliest things I like about summer are the balmy nights, heading on to twilight. Hmm.

you are so right, there are similarities between Fauvism and the Scottish colourists, very similar in many ways,

I have always found Fauvism fascinating and didn't know what the fascination was about until I read some articles about it. I kept being drawn to Van Gogh, Cezanne and Matisse. I was thinking oh just the color catches up my eye, then I read 'using color as an emotional force.' Then ah ha! that was it, that was the link, expressing emotion through the use of colors. I can't say that I like all of that group, I'm not a particular fan of Gauguin, yet I do get it, I do understand what I am looking at. The Scottish colourists have also impressed me with the way that they use color to draw attention to a specific part of a painting, like the orange shade.
